Golf tournament slated for Monday

ABC 6 news reporter Jim Hummel will be the guest speaker at a dinner following a scholarship golf tournament at Quidnessett County Club on Monday.

Golf tournament: The Providence chapter of ASIS, an organization for security professionals, is sponsoring a golf tournament next Monday at the Quidnessett Country Club, 950 North Quidnessett Rd., North Kingstown. Registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. will be followed by play at 1.

The fee is $150, which includes a 6 p.m. dinner with guest speaker Jim Hummel from ABC 6 News; proceeds will benefit the Anthony Mancuso Scholarship. The fee for dinner only is $45. Information is available at www.asisprovidence.org.

Country dance: The South Kingstown Land Trust will host an English country dance at its barn, 17 Matunuck Beach Rd., Matunuck, Saturday night from 7:30 to 10:30. Admission is $8 for land trust members, $10 for others.

Pet refuge benefit: North Kingstown’s Pet Refuge, a no-kill shelter, is raising funds with a walk at Goddard State Park in Warwick Sunday at 1 p.m.; registration will begin at noon.

Fees are $15 for those who pre-register and obtain pledge forms by calling 294-1115, and $20 that day.

Dance lessons: Dance lessons are conducted each Wednesday at The Towers, 35 Ocean Rd., Narragansett, with Swing and ballroom dancing from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by Latin dance at 7, beginners’ tango at 8, and intermediate tango at 9.

Admission is $12 for one lesson, and $4 for each additional class.

Sports leagues: The South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the following drop-in sports leagues, for adults, at the Peace Dale Elementary School:

Co-ed basketball, Monday and Wednesday, 8 to 9 p.m.; and over-35 basketball, Friday, 6 to 9 p.m.; and volleyball, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Over-35 games are also played Wednesday at Curtis Corner Middle School. The fee is 50 cents a game for basketball, $1 for volleyball.

A men’s basketball league plays Thursday and Sunday night at Old Mountain Field, on Kingstown Road in Wakefield.
