Circus coming: The Big Apple Circus is making its annual visit to Charlestown’s Ninigret Park, off of Route 1A, and has scheduled the following shows:
Today, 7:30 p.m.; Tomorrow and Thursday, 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.; July 11, 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; July 12, noon, 4 and 8 p.m.; and July 13, noon and 4 p.m. Tickets are $16 to $40, and are available through Ticketmaster at 331-2211, at the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, 4945 Old Post Rd., Charlestown, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and at the circus box office, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, beginning July 6. To order tickets for groups of 15 or more, or for wheelchair accessible seating, call 1-800-922-3772.
Fireworks: Fireworks displays on Wuskenau Town Beach, on Atlantic Avenue in Misquamicut, are scheduled for next Monday, and July 21, both at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
Book/author luncheon: The Women’s Club of South County is sponsoring its ninth annual “Book and Author Luncheon,” next Wednesday at noon at the Dunes Club, on Boston Neck Road in Narragansett.
Guests will include Malcolm Greenaway, who wrote Block Island: Rhode Island’s Jewel; Roberta’s Woods author Betty Cotter; and Linda Beaulieu, the author of The Providence and Rhode Island Cookbook. Tickets are $50, and are available by mail from GFWC of South County, Att’n: Reservations, P.O. Box 5684, Wakefield, RI 02880.
Towers luncheons: The Towers, 35 Ocean Rd., Narragansett, is hosting its annual summer buffet luncheons, each Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., through Aug. 20. Admission is $12, $8 for children 10 and under. Reservations are recommended. Call 782-2597.
Recreation department trips: The South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the following trips:
Casino cruise, July 9; Nantucket, Aug. 14; and New York City, Sept. 13. For information, call 789-9301.
