Volunteers wanted

• The Pomona Grange is looking for volunteers to staff its kitchen booth at the Washington County Fair, Aug. 13, 15, 16 or 17, from 3 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 11 p.m. Volunteers will receive free admission to the fair.

Donations

• Members of the Pope Pius XII Council of the Knights of Columbus raised more than $800 for charity with a recent Tootsie Roll drive at Stop & Shop, in the Salt Pond Shopping Plaza in Narragansett.

Funds will go to a number of organizations for people with developmental disabilities, among them Wakefield’s LaPlante Center.

• Centreville Bank has donated $7,500 to the North Kingstown Arts Council. The council, which was formed in 1982, depends on donations and grants from individuals, corporations and agencies such as the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts to provide concerts, theatrical performances, art classes and poetry gatherings in North Kingstown.

The Journal publishes requests for specific donations from South County charities. If your nonprofit organization needs donations or volunteers, or has services or goods to offer people in need, we will print your request as space permits. Each request can be printed only once.

To be included, send your group’s information, including a name and contact phone number, to scounty@projo.com. Put “Giving” in the subject field.
