2 Portsmouth High School students face drug charges
01:00 AM EDT on Thursday, June 19, 2008
MIDDLETOWN — The police arrested two 17-year-old Portsmouth boys last Friday on marijuana-possession charges.
Lieutenants Patrick G. Sweeney and Robert S. Nutt were on an underage-drinking patrol at Purgatory Chasm at about 1:10 p.m. when they heard voices and saw a large group of youths sitting on a rocky area, according to a police report. The police saw one of the boys smoking a marijuana pipe, and the other boy told the police that he had a baggie of marijuana. The two, both Portsmouth High School students, were arrested and later released to their parents.
Later on Friday, the police cited Timothy V. Marsden, 18, of Stoughton, Mass., for underage alcohol possession. The police were on patrol at about 9:50 p.m. at Second Beach when they saw Marsden near the portable toilets after having apparently urinated outdoors, according to a police report. Marsden then sat in his car, where the police found a small bottle of vodka and three “nip”-sized bottles of vodka. Marsden was given a summons to appear July 8 in Municipal Court.
