Library Programs

Lincoln Public Library, Old River Road, will host a movie marathon for teens and preteens, ages 11 to 18. A trilogy of films, based on J.R.R. Tolkien books, will be shown Aug. 19 to 21 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Lincoln chiropractor, Dr. Herbert Curtis, will give a talk about fibromyalgia, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Curtis will discuss safe, effective and natural alternative methods to address fibromyalgia and chronic pain symptoms.

The library will host a game day, Aug. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. Students in grades 6 to 12 are invited to play DDR and Guitar Hero plus a few board and card games. Registration is being held at the library.

School Notes

Davies Career and Technical High School, 50 Jenckes Hill Rd., invites all incoming freshmen students and their parents/guardians to the “Freshmen Welcome Social,” Aug. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Pizza and ice cream will be served. New students and their family members will meet some of their teachers and administrators. Attendees are asked to RSVP to Bernie Blumenthal at (401) 728-1500, ext. 237 or Karen Murphy, ext. 236 by Friday, Aug. 15. Leave a message, giving the name of the student, and the number of family members who plan to attend.

Lincoln High School will hold its annual Freshmen Roar, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. in front of the school. Sponsored by the School Improvement Team and the PAC (Parents and Community Together), the Roar is a chance for student and parents to tour the building, meet staff, signup for activities, and receive their schedule.
