Community Notes

The Festival of Lights program will include a drama presentation by Lincoln High School students, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Middle School, Jenckes Hill Road. If the auditorium fills, the overflow of patrons will take tours and refreshments will be available in the cafeteria with “hot potatoes” and all the fixings. This commemorates the theme of this year’s program, which is “Education through the Years.” Serving hot potatoes to patrons will tie in with the Town’s historic one-room Pullen Corner Schoolhouse on Angell Road. This one-room schoolhouse is affectionately referred to in Town as the “Hot Potato School.” For those on the tour, there will be a second presentation in the auditorium at 7:45 p.m. Those attending the first presentation will then be served hot potatoes along with tours of the school.

The Festival of Lights program will continue Dec. 2 at St. Basil’s Church, Skyview Drive. The evening will include performances from the Lincoln High School Concert Band, the Warwick Symphony Orchestra, and a short presentation by elementary school students. There will also be a video presentation depicting the history of “Education through the Years” which will be narrated by historian, teachers, and other town officials presenting their experiences over the years in Lincoln schools. Light refreshments will be served.

An open house will be held Dec. 2 and 3 at the Valentine Whitman House and Hearthside, both on Great Road. Whitman House will be open Dec. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m., with Santa; and Dec. 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. Hearthside will be open Dec. 3 with Candlelight tours from 1 to 7 p.m.
