Y event: The YMCA of South County invites families to “Bring Your Own Picnic Lunch” to the Y, 165 Broad Rock Rd., Peace Dale, Sunday at noon, when they may picnic under the tress and take a walk around the grounds. Included will be activities for both people and pets. For information, call 783-3900.
Evening paddles: The Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association is sponsoring an evening paddle on the Upper Wood River, Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m., leaving from the WPWA headquarters, 203 Arcadia Rd., Hope Valley.
Canoers and kayakers will see wildflowers and vegetation such as cardinal flower, pickerel weed and little floating-hearts, and possibly blooming buttonbush and turtlehead.
Fees are $5 for members, $10 for others, and kayaks will be available for $5. To register, call 539-9017.
Bird walks: Phil Budlong leads free 8 a.m. bird walks each Tuesday morning, through December, meeting at the Charlestown Mini-Super, on Route 1A in Charlestown. For information, call 783-9191.
