Role reversal for Exeter Town Clerk
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, June 24, 2008
EXETER — As the town clerk since 1992, Cheryl A. Chorney has signed hundreds of marriage certificates.
She recently signed a marriage certificate, but it wasn’t on the line for clerk.
It was on the line for bride.
Town Clerk Cheryl A. Chorney and Councilman Kenneth L. Fernstrom were married June 7 at their home on Laurel Road.
Each has three children. All six attended the wedding.
“The day was lovely,” said the woman who now answers the phone at Town Hall as Cheryl Fernstrom. “It was wonderful.”
Deputy Clerk Ruth Stone signed the marriage certificate for her boss.
The Fernstroms were not able to take a honeymoon trip. They both had to be in their places for the town’s annual Financial Town Meeting three days later.
