WEST WARWICK — An East Greenwich woman faces felony assault charges after she allegedly attacked her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend with a knife Saturday night and then tried to hit the man with her car when he intervened.
Melissa Taylor, 21, of 153 Charlotte Drive, was brought yesterday to District Court, Warwick, where she was ordered held in lieu of $60,000 bail with surety on charges of assault with intent to commit murder and felony domestic assault.
At about 10 p.m. Saturday, the police said, Taylor went looking for Gregory Thibodeau, 30, of Providence, on Ivy Street, where his current girlfriend, Bianca Ranieri, 17, lives.
There, according to Sgt. Scott Amaral, Taylor confronted Ranieri and attacked her with a knife with a 7-inch blade. She cut the girl on the arm before Thibodeau wrested the knife from her, Amaral said, then she jumped into her car and tried to run him over before driving away.
She was arrested about a half-mile away, Amaral said.
