EAST GREENWICH — A man who died early Saturday after falling into the water at Milt’s Marina was identified by the police yesterday as Jerald St. Laurent, 45, of Westboro, Mass.

EAST GREENWICH — The capping of the community’s long-closed municipal landfill is proceeding on schedule and under budget, and by the fall a public park will take up the site overlooking Greenwich Cove, according to Town Manager William Sequino Jr.

EAST GREENWICH — Fulfilling a procedural requirement, the School Committee on Tuesday formally requested an election-date waiver that the state Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education already granted earlier this month.

No bail for nursing assistant charged with sexual assault
WARWICK — A nursing assistant charged with sexually assaulting an Alzheimer’s patient in his care at St. Elizabeth Home, in East Greenwich, late last month was denied bail yesterday after a hearing in District Court.

When Rider, Mount Are One
Multi-sport athletes Ellie Sharpe, 17, and Stephanie Nowak, 16, have returned to Rhode Island after representing seven Northeastern states in the premier North American equestrian competition for riders 14 to 21 years old. The teens rode for New England and New York in dressage competition at the North American Junior and Young Riders Championship in Parker, Colo., the weekend of Aug. 2-3.

EAST GREENWICH — A man robbed a Bank RI branch at 1269 South County Trail early yesterday morning, making off with at least $1,000 in cash, the police said.
