Drum circle: Second Stage Studio, 1 Angell Rd., will host a drum circle Thursday and Aug. 14 at 7:30 p.m. This is a rhythm-based event that uses a variety of hand drums and percussion instruments. The drum circle will be led by Joe Vecchio and Meghan McKenna. The cost is $10. For more information, call (401) 334-4800.

Dragonflies and Damselflies: New Dawn Earth Center, 75 Wrentham Rd., will host a program on dragonflies and damselflies, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Learn what to look for to identify these magical winged insects. Donation, $7. For more information or to register, call (401) 333-1341.

Library Programs

Cumberland Public Library, 1464 Diamond Hill Rd., is hosting a drop-in art program for children ages 4 to 12 today from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Starry Night story time will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Children ages 3 to 8 and their parents/guardians are invited to sit outside on the library grounds for stories and activities. Bring a blanket; light refreshments will be served. The rain date is July 31.

Kathy Barton, former president of the R.I. Wild Plant Society, will lead children ages 6 to 12 on a nature walk at the library. The walk will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Children attending must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is being held at the library. The rain date is Aug. 2.

Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to a Showtime movie July 30 at 2:30 p.m. A limited number of free tickets are available at the library. Parents and/or guardians are asked to remain in the children’s program room with their child for the duration of the movie. Free popcorn will be served and families may bring a beverage in a closed container, such as a juice box. No open drinks will be allowed. Families may bring a soft cushion to sit on.

A family game day is scheduled Aug. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to try various board games.

School Notes

Cumberland High School Girls’ Tennis Team will host a free series of tennis clinics for girls who are interested in trying out for the team, especially incoming freshman. Clinics will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. staring Thursday and continuing on July 31 and Aug. 7. Demo racquets will be provided if needed; players should bring water and towels. Clubs

St. Aidan’s Group will meet Aug. 1 at St. Aidan’s Parish Center, Diamond Hill Road. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and a breakfast brunch will be served at 10 a.m. The meeting will commence following brunch. Tickets are $7 for members and $8 for guests. A bake sale will be held after the meeting; members are asked to bring a home-baked good. Reservations and cancellations must be made by Friday. For more information, call (401) 333-6597.

A Mass for sick and deceased members will be held at 8 a.m. in St. Aidan Church. All members are invited.
