Plant sale: The Blackstone Valley Garden Club will sponsor its sixth annual plant sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Monastery, Diamond Hill Road. Lincoln Garden Club and the Apple Blossom Garden Club of Smithfield will also participate in this event. URI master gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions, and will conduct on-site soil testing at no charge.
An evening meandering: New Dawn Earth Center, 75 Wrentham Rd., will host a hike to the top of the hill to watch the sunset, Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is a $5 donation per person, or $18 per family. Numerology class: It’s My Health, 2374 Mendon Rd., will host a numerology class Thursday and May 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with Doris Ann Bridgehouse is a numerologist and author. Senior health fair: The seventh annual Blackstone Valley Senior Health Fair will be held May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Emerald Bay Manor, 10 Old Diamond Hill Rd. The event, which is free and open to the public, will provide seniors a forum to meet and ask questions and advice of senior care specialists, therapists and dieticians from the local community. In addition to information booths representing all sectors of the senior healthcare industry, attendees will be offered screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, hearing and balance. Recreation Department
Cumberland Recreation Department is offering a cardio kickboxing/aerobic class. The program will run for eight weeks from June 5 through July 31. Classes will be held Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Diamond Hill Ski Lodge. The fee is $60 for Cumberland residents and $70 for others. Registration will be held May 19 to 30 at the Recreation Department, Diamond Hill Road.
A Zumba dance exercise program is being offered. The program will run for eight-weeks on Tuesdays, June 3 through June 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Ski Lodge in Diamond Hill Park. The fee is $60 for Cumberland residents and $70 for non-residents. Registration will be held May 19 to 30 at the Recreation Department.
Registration for the summer day camp program for Cumberland residents will be held June 2 to 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ski Lodge. Camp will run for six weeks, from June 30 through Aug. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Garvin School, Ashton School, and Community School. Camp is open to children ages 5 to 13. Young children must have been previously enrolled in kindergarten and due to enter first grade this fall. Registration fee is $70 per child, with a late registration fee of $85 per child. Bring a proof of residency, and the child’s birth certificate. Registration forms may be obtained at the registration or can be downloaded from the Parks and Recreation section of the Town of Cumberland Web site: www.cumberlandri.org.
During summer camp, there will be a one-hour baseball clinic held once a week for five weeks at the Upper Deck Baseball Academy off Martin Street at 1 John Dean Memorial Boulevard. Transportation will be provided to and from the clinic. The fee is $50 per child, with a maximum of $100 per family. Registration and fee for the baseball clinic should be submitted when registering for camp.

Boys & Girls Club
Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland/Lincoln is holding registration for its summer basketball leagues until May 24. The fee is $50, plus membership fee. Programs are being held for boys and girls ages 4 to 17. A basketball league for men 40 and over will be held Sunday mornings. Signups are being held until May 24. Leagues play will being June 1. The fee is $50, no members required.
The club is creating a family cookbook and needs recipes. To submit a recipe, pick up an official recipe collection form from the Boys & Girls Club. Submissions must be returned by May 24 at 11:30 a.m.
The club’s fifth annual Poker Run will be held June 1. This rain or shine event will start and finish at the Sayles Hill Rod & Gun Club in North Smithfield. Starting time is 11:30 a.m., and stops will be at Lucky’s Tavern & Pizza, Sticks and The Island. This run is for all motorcycle enthusiasts, and will include food and music featuring The Woodburners. Poker hands will be available for $15, T-shirts for $10, and raffles. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Library Programs
Cumberland Public Library, Diamond Hill Road, along with the Cumberland AAA agency, will host a free Reverse Mortgage program today from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Homeowners at least 62 years old, along with their families, are invited to attend. Handouts will be distributed and light refreshments will be served. Reservations are requested but not required.
A Kid’s Kafe program will be held Saturday. The program is meant to encourage children to share a favorite book, poem or comic strip while participating in activities. The Kid’s Kafe, for children ages 8 to 12, will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. The Junior Kid’s Kafe, for children ages 5 to 7, will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m.
An Introduction to e-Bay program is scheduled for May 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Many topics will be covered, and there will be a question and answer session. The fee is $5, payable upon registration. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
The library will offer a “Nine Men’s Misery: a Walk and Talk” May 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Nine Men’s Misery is on the monastery grounds, a 15- to 20-minute walk behind the library. The site is believed to be the oldest veteran’s memorial in the country, dating back to King Philip’s War (1676). The walk and talk will be guided by John McNiff, archeologist and National Park ranger.
Hollywood film series will be held Saturdays, May 24 and 31, and June 7 and 14 at 2 p.m., at the library. Reservations are requested, but not required.
The library is selling reusable, recyclable bags to tote library materials. The tote bags are $2, and can be purchased at the circulation desk.

Clubs
St. John Vianney Senior’s Club will meet May 21 at noon. The annual May brunch will be served. Reservations should be made by today by calling (401) 726-8024 or (401) 658-2722. New members and guests are welcome.
Cumberland Garden Club will meet today at 12:30 p.m. at the Community House, Hillside Road. Karen Archer, president of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society will present a slide show on wildflowers. The program is open to those interested in joining the garden club.
Diamond Hill Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting May 18 at 2 p.m. in the old schoolhouse next to the North Cumberland Fire Station. Members and lot owners are encouraged to attend.
Blackstone Valley Mothers of Twins Club will meet May 21 at 7 p.m. at Four Corners Community Chapel, Diamond Hill Road. The annual penny social will be held. Cumberland Senior Center is hosting a cruise on the Horizon June 18, which includes a buffet. A two-hour tour of the Cape Cod Canal is set for Aug. 20, with lunch at Lindsey’s Restaurant. A two-day trip to the Beacon in Lincoln, N.H., for a Lobster Fest and a train ride, is scheduled for Sept. 14 and 15.
