Family Fun Day: Cumberland Recreation Department will host a Family Fun Day in the Park Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. in Diamond Hill Park. The program is for children ages 3 to 12. Canned good donations will be accepted. A Halloween safety kit, candy and other goodies will be given to all children.

Composting workshop: Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful, a program of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, will host a free one-hour composting workshop Saturday at 10 a.m. and Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Metcalf-Franklin Farm, 142 Abbott Run Valley Rd. Perennial plant swap: The annual perennial plant swap will be held Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumberland Monastery, Diamond Hill Road. Bring a plant, and take a plant, or purchase new plants. The program is sponsored by the Cumberland Teachers Association (CTA). Proceeds will benefit the CTA Scholarship Fund for Cumberland High School Seniors.

Library Programs

Cumberland Public Library, Diamond Hill Road, will host a Classic Monster Movie Festival, with original movies featuring Dracula, Frankenstein and a favorite werewolf in order from the first to the last. The series will be held today, tomorrow, and Thursday, and Oct. 23, 24, 25 and 30 at 6 p.m. Popcorn will be served. Reservations will assure you a seat.

A family bingo will be held Thursday from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.

The library will host a College Application Essay Workshop Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for college-bound juniors. In this workshop, participants will learn to write unique essays that will pique the admissions readers’ interest. Kid’s KafÉ, for children ages 8 to 12, will be held Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. A Junior Kid’s KafÉ , for children ages 5 to 7, will meet Saturday from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Children are invited to share a favorite book, poem, or comic strip.

A Teen KafÉ is scheduled for Oct. 27 from 2 to 3 p.m. The program is open to students ages 12 to 18.

The library has a newsletter NextReads, where they will e-mail subscribers a list of recommended titles once or twice a month. Each title is accompanied by a short description and a link to the library catalog to place the item on hold. Club Notes

Cumberland Garden Club will host a workshop tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Arnold Mills Community House. The program will be “Autumn Design” with a floral design demonstration using chrysanthemums.

Blackstone Valley Mothers of Twins Club (BVMOTC) will meet Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. This is an opportunity for moms of multiples, including those who are expecting, to get together. New members are welcome. AARP Cumberland Chapter 4646 will meet Nov. 12 at St. Joseph parish hall, 1303 Mendon Rd. The business meeting will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon at noon. The program at 1 p.m. will feature Marietta Cleasby, artist and international observer of elections, Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe. The topic will be October Election in Ukraine.
