Kirkpatrick to run again for District 4 council seat
01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, June 25, 2008
CUMBERLAND — Jason B. Kirkpatrick will seek a second term as the District 4 representative on the Town Council.
“It is a tremendous honor to serve the people in District 4 on the Town Council,” Kirkpatrick said in a statement. “My hope is that I have earned the trust of my constituents for another term.”
Kirkpatrick, 37, of 307 Abbott Run Valley Rd., says that he was “instrumental” in passing legislation allowing public comment during council meetings as opposed to just at the end of the meeting. “We have been very diligent in allowing the public to participate in town government,” he said.
Kirkpatrick, who serves as a member of the finance subcommittee, cites the importance of education, fiscal responsibility, and open space among issues he will continue to focus on during his reelection campaign.
Kirkpatrick is a member and past chairman of the deacons and executive board of Sayles Memorial Congregational Church in Lincoln. He is a trustee and member of Lafayette Lodge in Cumberland. He has also raised money and volunteered time toward Special Olympics, the March of Dimes, local soup kitchens and food pantries.
A resident of Cumberland for more than 10 years, Kirkpatrick lives with his wife, Carol, and their three children. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and is employed by PFPC in Westborough, Mass., as an Information Technology recruiter in the human resources department.
