Hearings set on city plan
01:00 AM EDT on Friday, July 11, 2008
CRANSTON –– The Planning Department will host a series of public workshops on a prospective overhaul of the city’s Comprehensive Plan in the coming weeks.
The plan, meant to guide development and open-space preservation in the community, has not been updated since 1992.
It is supposed to be retooled every five years.
The Planning Department held an overview workshop in May. In Wednesday meetings scheduled for July 16, July 23, July 30, Aug. 6, Aug. 13 and Aug. 20, the department will collect public comment on each element of the plan, starting with housing.
Among the other elements: open space and recreation, historic preservation, economic development, natural resources and land-use planning.
All meetings will run from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cranston Senior Center, 1070 Cranston St..
