2 men sentenced for bank robbery in Cranston
01:00 AM EDT on Saturday, July 12, 2008
PROVIDENCE — Two men have been sentenced to federal prison for robbing a Cranston bank.
Dennis R. Evans was given 20 years behind bars yesterday, while Christopher M. Thibodeau got an 18-year sentence.
The two men admitted holding up a Bank Rhode Island branch in masks, gloves and caps on June 29, 2007. Both men were on supervised release at the time from a previous prison sentence.
Evans and Thibodeau were arrested after a police officer saw them running across Route 295. Officers found Evans in the woods nearby, lying over a plastic garbage bag of money.
The bank says the men stole roughly $37,000, and police recovered all but $75.
