Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum, at 4157 Post Rd. in Warwick, is among several West Bay area stops on a statewide tour of historic sites from noon to 3 p.m. tomorrow.

The CCRI Opera Workshop performance will be held today, May 9, at 7 p.m. in room 0540 on the Knight campus of the Community College of Rhode Island, 400 East Ave., Warwick. Admission is $5.

The Academy Players, of East Greenwich, will stage performances of The Secret Garden at East Greenwich High School, 300 Avenger Drive, at 8 p.m. today and tomorrow, and at 2 p.m. on May 10 and 11. Tickets are $20, but $16 for senior citizens and $14 for students.

Several historic sites in the West Bay area will be part of the Preserve Rhode Island celebration of National Preservation Month and Rhode Island Tourism Week tomorrow, May 10, from noon to 3 p.m.

There will be tours and special exhibits at Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum, 4157 Post Rd., Warwick; Pawtuxet Valley Preservation & Historical Society, 1679 Main St., West Warwick; Governor Sprague Mansion, 1351 Cranston St., Cranston; and Joy Homestead, 156 Scituate Ave., Cranston.

Body Language, an exhibit by several artists, will be held through June 7 at the Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Rd., Warwick. The participating artists are Rachel E. Wilcox, Stephanie Angelo, Jacob Booth, Yaron Dotan, Michael Finnegan and Doria Grace. There will be an opening reception tomorrow, May 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. For information, call (401) 737-0010.

Coming events

The Rhode Island Blood Center will hold a blood drive Monday, May 12, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Radisson Airport Hotel, Warwick. Donors will receive a coupon from Dunkin’ Donuts.

The Rhode Island Association for Justice will offer a six-week Citizens Law School for the general public. The first class will be held at the Warwick police station, 140 Veterans Memorial Drive. Later classes will be held at the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane. Classes will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 14 and 27 and June 2, 10, 16 and 23. Participants will learn about the civil justice system and the practice of law. Topics include: medical negligence, landlord/tenant law, personal injury, family law, legal issues concerning pets, and understanding cases involving multiple victims, i.e., 9/11 and the Station nightclub fire. Family Court Judge Haiganush R. Bedrosian and lawyer Joyce A. Faraone will discuss family law at the first class. The cost is $30 for the series.

CareNet-Rhode Island will hold a Sunset Walk fundraiser Thursday, May 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Goddard Memorial State Park, Ives Road, Warwick. Participants will walk a two-mile route. CareNet-Rhode Island is a nonprofit pregnancy resource center in Cranston.

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation will hold an Eco-Depot collection Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2 Bear Swamp Rd., East Greenwich. Items that can be dropped off include compact fluorescent light bulbs, oil paint, motor oil and filters, propane gas tanks, pesticides, paint thinner, furniture stain, lawn fertilizer and weed killer. Rhode Island Advocates for Gifted Education and the West Bay Collaborative will offer a professional development workshop, “Meeting of the Minds,” on Wednesday, May 28, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the West Bay Collaborative, 144 Bignall St., Warwick. The program on challenging the advanced learner will be presented by Susan Griggs and Jeanne Dawson.
