2 charged in attempted break-in
A 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old student from Cranston High School East who was graduating the next day were arrested Saturday for attempting to break into a Coventry home, according to Coventry Police Lt. John MacDonald.
Mario Marziale, of Oak Hill Drive, Cranston, a hockey player for Cranston East, and Montgomery Wood, 25, of 54 Warman Ave., Cranston, were both charged with attempted break-in and conspiracy, according to the police. They were both released on $2,500 personal recognizance, according to MacDonald.
They were charged after Scituate police found them walking along Hope Furnace Road in Scituate around 3 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Stephen B. Lang. Scituate Patrolman Keith Yeaw stopped them shortly after he had stopped a car driven by Gregory Pettinato, 23, of 102 Clement St., Cranston, on the same road. Someone had called about a suspicious car driving up and down the road.
Wood kicked in the back door of a house on Hope Furnace Road, the police said. When he and Marziale noticed a surveillance camera above the door they ran off, Lang said. Shortly afterward Yeaw found them walking down the road.
