Hazard Rock, where the 48-foot schooner Truant broke up on Friday, is seen at right off the Narragansett shore in this aerial photo shot last week by Don Bousquet and Son Aerial Photography.

Hazard Rock is the largest of the rocks off Hazard Avenue, the street running from left to right near the photo’s center. This treacherously slippery oceanfront stonescape has been the site of at least two deaths and nine rescues since 1984. Ocean Road cuts across the photo’s bottom right.

A number of other South County landmarks are visible in the photo, starting at top left, where the cluster of white buildings is Bonnet Shores, four miles away. Directly below that is the Army National Guard’s Camp Varnum.

Across Narragansett Bay’s West Passage is Jamestown, seen from Beaverhead at left to Beavertail at right. Newport is at upper right, and the Pell Bridge, connecting the islands, is at top center.

The photos in this series are shot from a 2½-pound radio-controlled airplane mounted with a camera, and operated by Nate Bousquet of Don Bousquet and Son Aerial Photography.
