01:00 AM EDT on Friday, October 10, 2008
WARREN — A 35-year-old priest assigned to St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol is to be arraigned today in District Court, Providence, on charges of drunken driving and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Victor Silva, of 577 Wood St., Bristol, was arrested on Market Street at Redmond Street after the police saw his southbound car cross into the northbound lane about 11:30 p.m. on Oct.1, according to the police.
Warren police had been alerted by their counterparts in Swansea, who moments earlier had been following an erratic driver south on Market Street until the car reached the Warren town line, according to police Lt. Joseph Loiselle.
He said Silva failed both a field sobriety test and a chemical test at the police station.
