Sing-Along: The Jamestown Philomenian Library, North Road, will offer a Sing-Along for Preschoolers tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. This free program, for babies and preschoolers and their caregivers, will be led by guitarist Kathy Fitzgerald, a Jamestown resident, author and librarian.

Open house: Service members, as well as family members eligible for service member benefits, are invited to attend an open house tomorrow from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Newport County Campus, One John H. Chafee Boulevard, Newport. CCRI staff will be available to discuss academic certificate and degree options unique to military personnel.

Daughters to meet: The Aquidneck Island Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Atria Aquidneck Place, 125 Quaker Hill Lane. The program will include recognition of Native American Heritage Month. Revolutionary War reenactors, Earle and Mary Trickey of Middletown, will present a program on the “Battle of Rhode Island.”

Any woman who believes she is eligible and would like to attend a meeting may call the chapter regent at (401) 683-1639 or the registrar at (401) 683-4583. Eligibility is based on Revolutionary War service of a direct ancestor.

BARRINGTON

Garden Club activities: The Barrington Garden Club will meet today at Barrington Public Library, County Road. The guest speaker will be Candace Morgenstern, immediate past president of the Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs and a floral designer and flower show judge. She will create arrangements suitable for the holidays and offer holiday design tips. The arrangements will be given away in a drawing after her presentation. Refreshments will precede the meeting and the guest fee is $5.

In other business, a members’ workshop will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Barrington United Methodist Church. RIFGC president and master judge, De Feldman, will lead the workshop, in which members will learn the basics of a mass design arrangement appropriate for Thanksgiving and meeting the requirements for a flower show entry. All materials except a container are included in the $30 workshop fee.

Writers workshop: “Courting the Muse: Artists, Writers and the Creative Process,” a program led by Michele F. Cooper will be offered tonight from 7 to 9 at Barrington Public Library, County Road. To register call the library’s Reference Desk , (401) 247-1920, ext. 2. This event is free.

BRISTOL

Pasta and meatball supper: The Bristol County Lions Club will be holding its 15th annual pasta and meatball supper Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Parish Hall, Hope Street. This event provides a significant amount of the club’s annual revenue which is donated to East Bay charities, including Linden Place, college scholarships, a defibrillator, eyeglasses and exams, Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and an Adopt a Family program. In addition, money goes to statewide Lions foundations that fight children’s cancer and sight-related diseases.

Tickets for this event are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The meal includes “all you can eat” pasta, meatballs, salad, garlic bread, coffee, soda and homemade Italian pastry. Tickets can be purchased by calling Bette Walpole at (401) 253-2322 or Joe Farmer at (401) 247-1040, or they can be bought at the door.

Parent-teacher night and more: Mt. Hope High School will hold parent-teacher conference night Thursday from 6 to . Parents may make appointments with teachers through their child. At 5:15 p.m. a meeting will be held at the school’s auditorium for parents of 9th, 10th and 11th grade students to review the new Rhode Island diploma. Parents are encouraged to attend these meetings. Appointment forms will be distributed to students during Advisory on Thursday. Also that night, the guidance department will host a workshop for parents to understand how they can play a significant role in their child’s education and success. The workshop will be held in the school’s library from 6 to 6:and again from 7 to 7:30.

Daughters meet: Hope Circle 70, Daughters of Isabella, will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Church auditorium, Wood Street. Members are reminded to bring nonperishable food items for the Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen.

Winter Sports Night signup date change: Mt. Hope High School’s Meet the Coaches Night has been rescheduled to tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria, Chestnut Street. The event is for students interested in boy’s basketball, girl’s basketball, cheerleading, gymnastics, hockey, indoor track, swimming and wrestling. This is a mandatory meeting for athletes and parents as important forms will be distributed and athletes will not be able to participate without the completed forms.

Uncommon Art at Linden Place: Thirty New England artists and craftspersons will display their works Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Linden Place, 500 Hope St. Featured will be oils, acrylics, watercolors, photography and sculpture.

The event is hosted by Uncommon Art, which promotes emerging artists. Among the local artists participating will be Mary Dondero of IMAGO Gallery in Warren, multimedia; Roseanne Menard of 4 Winds Gallery in Bristol, oils, acrylics and watercolors; Toni Petersen, watercolors; Marian O’Connell, oils, acrylics and watercolors; and Judy Gardner, photography.

Admission is $3 each.

Homes for the Holidays: Linden Place will host its 15th annual Homes for the Holidays house tour Dec. 9 and 10 from noon to 5 p.m. in historic downtown Bristol. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the weekend of the tour (tickets are good for both days). The tour homes from colonial to contemporary in style, open their doors to showcase holiday decor and interiors. EAST PROVIDENCE

Holly Day bazaar: Riverside Congregational Church, Bullocks Point Avenue at Oak Avenue, will hold its annual Holly Day bazaar Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tables will be filled with a variety of gift items, fresh floral pieces, handmade crafts, knitted goods, plants, jewelry and baked goods. Activities for city residents: The East Providence Recreation Department will hold its annual senior citizens’ luncheon Christmas party Dec. 7 at Wannamoisett Country Club.

Also, additional seats are available to see Cats at the Providence Performing Arts Center Feb. 11. Reservations are now being accepted for the trip to Scotland in October 2007.

Alumni reunion: St. Mary Academy-Bay View Young Alum Reunion and Thanksgiving Bash will be held Nov. 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Restaurant Prov, 99 Chestnut St. The event is being held at this time so that Bay View alumnae home from college visiting family can attend. Lighthouse replica to be unveiled: The Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse will unveil a replica of the lighthouse tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Riverside Library, Bullocks Point Avenue. The table-top model was given to the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, to use for public display and outreach purposes. It was built by Don Perkins of Bourne, Mass., and donated by Perkins and his wife Louise.

The election of 2007 officers and board members will also take place at this meeting. Grange meeting: The Little Compton Grange will meet tomorrow at the IOOF Hall, the Commons. There will be a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7:30. There will be an agriculture program by Walter C. Elwell, state agriculture cochairman. All are welcome to attend.

MIDDLETOWN

Garden Club to meet: The Middletown Garden Club will meet today at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 1439 West Main Rd. Paul Lamond, head of the Middletown Tree Commission, will give a talk on the scope of the commission. Refreshments will be served and the slate for the incoming club board will be presented by Marge White of the nominating committee.

NEWPORT

Photographers meet: The Photographers’ Guild of the Newport Art Museum will meet tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the museum, 76 Bellevue Ave. This month’s meeting features a studio session with a model available for glamour shots. Members are asked to bring two or three props – hite flowers for members whose last name begins with A-K or found objects if the last name begins with L-Z. The latter could be shells, driftwood, interesting pieces of glass, ceramics, teddy bears or anything the member wants to incorporate. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Fall lectures: The International Yacht Restoration School, 449 Thames St., continues its fall dinner and lecture series, “Alphabet Soup,” tonight at 7:30 with “A History of the Herreshoff S-Class,” by Ken Upham. He will share the story behind one of the oldest one-designs that is still actively raced and sailed. During its history, the Herreshoff S-Class has attracted a roster of notable owners, including Charles Francis Adams, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., and Gen. George Patton.

Booster Club fundraiser: The Portsmouth High School Boosters Club will hold a wine and ale tasting fundraiser Nov. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Greenvale Vineyards, 582 Wapping Rd. The event will also include holiday appetizers and desserts, door prizes and drawings for prizes. TIVERTON

Food for Fines: The Essex Library, 238 Highland Rd., is offering a chance for library patrons with overdue items to clear their records . Anyone with an overdue book, tape or CD can bring in a nonperishable food or health/paper item (one item for each item overdue) to the library for a donation to a local food bank, and all fines will be cleared. This program is underway now through Nov. 21. Suggested items include proteins, such as canned meat, canned fish, canned chicken, beans, peanut butter, nuts and seeds; desserts such as Jell-o, cookies, cake mixes, fruit roll-ups, puddings; canned goods like soups, vegetables, fruits, juice, sauces and evaporated milk and packaged items like cereal, pasta, crackers and oatmeal.

Genealogy Workshop: The monthly meeting of the genealogy workshop offered by Tiverton Library Services will be held tonight from 6:30 to 8. This is a change from the regularly scheduled Monday meetings.

Beginning and advanced genealogists are invited to gather in the Essex Reference Room to use the library’s resources and online databases, and share the local history.
