Teen ‘bikers’ draw police attention in Barrington
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 23, 2008
BARRINGTON — Even a rogue offshoot of Hell’s Angels wouldn’t stoop to picking on a bunch of elementary school students.
But a group of 15-year-olds calling themselves “The Bikers” were apparently doing exactly that to children walking home from the Hampden Meadows Elementary School.
The police say they are preparing to give the bullies a small taste of what it’s really like to be bad to the bone.
The bullying was reported to the police last week after the three teens also harassed a crossing guard at the school.
The trio, all students at Barrington High School, apparently caused problems last year, according to the police.
Chief John LaCross said that if the problems continue, the three will be arrested for disorderly conduct and turned over to the town’s Juvenile Hearing Board for disciplinary action.
“We’ll try to give them a chance to knock it off,” he said.
In other police action, Kayla A. O’Donnell, 20, of 5 Atlantic Crossing, was charged early Sunday morning with misdemeanor counts of driving while impaired, possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol.
She was spotted on County Road around 3:16 a.m. Patrolwoman Kristy Olivet-Gallo turned on her cruiser lights but O’Donnell crossed the Barrington River at County, took a left on New Meadow Road and then a right onto Field Lane before finally stopping.
She said she and her two friends had come from Club Hell in Providence. The police said she failed a field sobriety test and scored a .032 on a breath test, above the .02 limit for someone under 21. A search of the car produced two marijuana pipes, a baggie of marijuana, four unopened beers and a mostly-empty bottle of Vodka, according to the police.
O’Donnell is due in Providence District Court on Oct. 1.
