Boating safety day planned in Barrington
01:00 AM EDT on Friday, May 16, 2008
BARRINGTON — The town will hold a Boating Safety Awareness Day tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Barrington Yacht Club.
The event will include safety and first aid presentations, door prizes, free boat inspections and “drunk goggles” that simulate intoxication to make people aware of how impaired they can be if they drink while on the water.
It is sponsored by the Rhode Island Harbormasters Association, the Barrington Yacht Club, the Barrington Harbor Commission, the Bristol Elks Lodge, the Cove Harbor Marina and Lavin’s Marina.
