Barrington Library, County Road, offers a variety of programs and activities each month. For information, call 247-1920.
This month’s programs will begin Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. with a multi-media presentation on Bob Dylan Presented by Nicholas Forster, this presentation will take the audience from Dylan’s start as an acclaimed folk artist, through the controversies of his “electric” period and his notorious plunge into Christian rock, and even in his current modern blues form. And while Nicholas won’t solve the mystery of the man, he promises to cover Dylan’s entire career and even have new information for those hard-to-surprise Dylanphiles.

Topher Hamblet of The Foundation for West Africa (FWA) will host a presentation and discussion Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. His presentation will include images and information on West African culture and connections to Rhode Island, the impact of recent civil wars in Sierra Leone and Liberia and FWA’s role in rebuilding communities by supporting independent radio, health care and education projects.
The Foundation for West Africa is a Barrington-based, non-profit organization. Hamblett is a Barrington native and resident who served in the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone from 1985 to 1987.

The library will delay its opening Dec. 4 in order to hold a full staff meeting. The library will open at 10 a.m. that day.

Photographs by Michael S. Guertin will be on display during the month of December on the Library’s main floor. A Barrington resident, Guertin shoots his chronophotographs - or digital photos with composite images of people in motion—primarily along the seaside in the small towns of southern New England. His photographs will be on display in the hallway gallery and can be seen during library hours.

An Evening of Indian Classical Music with Srinivas Reddy and Sameer Gupta will be presented Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. On tour in New England, Reddy and Gupta will perform two ragas from their debut CD, Hemant & Jog.
A graduate of Brown University and Barrington High School, Reddy is a professional concert sitarist in the traditional guru-shishya style who has given numerous recitals in the US and India. Gupta is an original voice in jazz, world, and fusion music and has performed at Lincoln Center, Asagiri Jam in Japan, and at jazz and world music festivals across the United States and abroad.
This program is free and open to all.
