Zoroastrians tomorrow will begin their festival of Ayathrem Gahambar. The five-day festival celebrates prosperity.
Tomorrow at sundown, Jews will begin their celebration of Sukkot, or Festival of Tabernacles. Also known as the festival of booths and the Harvest Festival, it is symbolized by temporary booths (Sukkot) which many Jews erect on their property as a reminder of the huts that the Israelites lived in during their years in the wilderness. They also recall the field dwellings Jewish farmers would use during the harvest season. Other symbols of the festival include the lulav, or palm branch; the etrog, or citron; willows and myrtles.
On Tuesday, Theravada Buddhist monks will conclude Vassa, their three-month-long Rains Retreat Observance.
