Boston Red Sox
Beckett gives encouraging signs
08:07 AM EDT on Wednesday, March 12, 2008
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett (back spasms) said yesterday that he feels a lot better than he did on Monday. The right-hander was moving around the clubhouse with relative ease and was relieved by the way he feels. Manager Terry Francona was just as thrilled with the recent prognosis, which seems to change on a daily basis. Beckett suffered the injury last Saturday before his scheduled start against the Marlins and left the field in discomfort. It is still not clear when he will make his next start, and there are questions about his availability for the trip to Japan next week.
