SEEING DOUBLE: They did it with a six-run, first-inning outburst that included four doubles, two of which drove in runs. It started with a leadoff double by Julio Lugo and ended with an RBI double by Alex Cora. In between, they received a double from David Ortiz, a two-run single from Manny Ramirez, a throwing error that produced another run, and an RBI double from Mike Lowell.

THREE’S A CHARM: Josh Beckett raised his record to 3-0 with six strong innings.

NUMBERS GAME: The Red Sox outscored their opponents, 39-9, in the five games and outscored the Angels, 25-3, in the three games against Los Angeles.
