•HIGHLIGHTS: George Kottaras ended up with two of the game’s biggest hits in support of a strong performance by PawSox starter Devern Hansack. Kottaras, who drove in Pawtucket’s second run with a two-out double in the first, came through with a single up the middle in the 10th after Joe Thurston reached on a ground-rule double and moved to third on a fly to deep center by Jonathan Van Every. “It’s a great feeling, especially winning in that fashion,” Kottaras said. “I was just looking for something I could handle (in the 10th). I got it and I made the best of it. It’s nice to build up some confidence.” The other star for Pawtucket was Hansack, who struck out 11 and gave up just five hits and one walk over seven innings. After allowing a run in the first, Hansack gave up a pair of singles in the fifth inning but wiggled out of trouble by striking out Roger Bernadina.

•KEYS TO THE GAME: The clutch hitting of Kottaras and the pitching of Hansack were enough to help the PawSox snap a four-game losing streak. Reliever Chris Smith gave up singles to Roger Bernadina and Leonard Davis to open the 10th and Bernadina reached third on a flyout, but Luis Jimenez grounded into a double play as Pawtucket escaped with the win.

•THEY SAID IT: “It feels real good,” said manager Ron Johnson. “Our offense is up in the higher tier of this league and we’ve been absolutely shut down. That’s why you’ve got to look at the performance of Devern Hansack. We’d lost four in a row and all of a sudden if we go down 3-1 or 4-1, you’ve got to really dig down. Baseball is a momentum game.”

•NOTES: Hansack has been of Pawtucket’s hottest pitchers. Over his last seven starts, the 30-year-old is 3-1 with a 1.56 ERA in 46 innings. Last night was his first double-figure strikeout performance this season. … The PawSox were 13-3-13 in their first 29 series and had lost just one of their last 21 series entering this one.

•ON DECK: The PawSox will look for a split of this four-game series against the Clippers when Charlie Zink (11-3, 2.83) faces Marco Estrada (2-1, 4.89) today.
