Buchholz pitches well in PawSox loss
07:20 AM EDT on Tuesday, March 18, 2008
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Clay Buchholz pitched four hitless innings, struck out three and walked one in a start for the Pawtucket Red Sox, but Indianapolis touched the PawSox’ bullpen for five runs en route to a 5-2 victory in an exhibition game yesterday at Fort Myers, Fla.
The Indians scored a run off Dan Kolb in the top of the fifth. But Dusty Brown hit a two-run homer in the bottom half of that inning to give the PawSox a 2-1 lead. The Indians scored three more runs off Kolb in the sixth and another in the seventh off East Providence’s Barry Hertzler, who gave up a run, two hits and struck out a batter in an inning of work. Kolb took the loss.
