When 17-year-old Danny Vinik outbattled Angels catcher Jeff Mathis for Manny Ramirez’s foul ball in the fifth inning Friday night, leading to a Boston run, his efforts were noticed all the way to the very top of the Red Sox’ food chain.
Vinik’s story was told by Journal sports writer Joe McDonald immediately after it happened on projo.com’s Sox Blog. Several people posted comments to it, including one who wrote:
“Well done, Danny. Great job representing Red Sox Nation.”
