Red Sox to be honored at White House ceremony Wednesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox will travel as a team to Washington, D.C. next week for a ceremony at the White House which will celebrate their title last October.
They will meet with President George W. Bush at the White House on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The announcement was made Friday during the daily media briefing at the White House.
The Sox will hold an early morning workout Wednesday, wrap up earlier than normal, and charter a flight to the capitol. They are expected to meet Mr. Bush at approximately 3:05 p.m. Owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner, president/CEO Larry Lucchino and other members of the Red Sox ownership group and front office will also attend the White House ceremony. Red Sox players will also visit with patients at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center during their trip to Washington, D.C. In addition, the team will be bringing the 2007 World Series Trophy to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The Red Sox will return to Fort Myers on Wednesday evening.
The Sox made the same journey in 2005, after winning their first World Series in 86 years.
