Francona encouraged by Beckett's throwing session
08:19 AM EDT on Wednesday, October 1, 2008
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Red Sox manager Terry Francona was upbeat yesterday when discussing Josh Beckett’s throwing session.
“Beckett … starting at 60 feet made 30 throws,” he said. “[He] moved back to 90 [feet and] made 20 [throws, then] came back to 60. The ball came out of his hand real well.
“Everything was very encouraging,” he concluded. “He’ll long-toss [today and] we’ll decide [on his status tomorrow]. Everything was real positive.”
