Red Sox' postseason roster won't be final until game day
08:08 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 30, 2008
BOSTON -- The Red Sox have until 10 o’clock tomorrow morning to submit their roster for the ALDS, and the club does not plan to finalize its roster until the team gets to Anaheim, manager Terry Francona said.
However, he said it has already been decided that pitchers Devern Hansack, David Pauley and David Aardsma will definitely not be on it. They will instead be heading down to Fort Myers, Fla.
“Pauley and Hansack will be stretched out in games down there, and David Aardsma will pitch in relief down there,” Francona said.
In addition, pitcher Chris Smith and catcher George Kottaras “were allowed to end their season and go home,” he said.
