Coco Crisp limited by sore foot
08:12 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 23, 2008
BOSTON -- Center fielder Coco Crisp was out of the lineup last night with a sore left foot. According to manager Terry Francona, Crisp’s foot has bothered him for a while, but he’s been able to play through the discomfort. He’s also been aided by some padding in his shoe and has worn softer spikes. Francona said Crisp played the outfield over the weekend in Toronto wearing running shoes, and will switch to spikes when hitting.
“He has felt some relief with this orthotic, which is good,” Francona said. “We almost put him back in the lineup, but we decided to wait one more day.”
