Ortiz hits two homers high and far
08:11 AM EDT on Thursday, September 18, 2008
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- David Ortiz didn’t get cheated with the two homers he hit last night.
The first one traveled 433 feet in the first, landing deep in the right field bleachers.
The second one, measured at 421 feet, hit the “D-Ring” catwalk and never came down, making it the third time a fair ball has hit that catwalk this season.
“My hand has been feeling good the past few days,” Ortiz said. ``I hope it stays like that for a while.”
The two-homer game was the third of the season for Ortiz and 33rd of his career.
“We didn’t have a whole lot to hang our hats on other than David’s swing,” said Red Sox manager Terry Francona.
