Beckett on track to start Friday
08:05 AM EDT on Wednesday, August 27, 2008
NEW YORK -- Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett threw a 50-pitch side session yesterday at Yankee Stadium and it went well, according manager Terry Francona. The manager said the right-hander felt strong and is still on schedule to start Friday against the White Sox at Fenway Park. Beckett has been pushed back twice due to numbness and tingling in his fingers on his throwing hand and a bout of inflammation in his elbow.
After last night's victory, Beckett said his side session went well but he didn't want to discuss it in detail because he wanted to wait to see how he feels today.
