Little League World Series holds fond memories for Cash
07:42 AM EDT on Wednesday, August 20, 2008
BALTIMORE -- The Little League World Series is taking place in Williamsport, Pa., and Red Sox catcher Kevin Cash always pays close attention to the tournament. He participated in the LLWS when he was a member of the Tampa ( Fla.) Northside team that advanced to Williamsport in 1989. That was the year Trumbull, Conn., won with Chris Drury as its pitcher. Cash said yesterday it always brings back fond memories when he watches games.
“I always say I peaked at age 11,” he joked. “I dominated at that level. But I’ve been fortunate to be a part of three World Series.”
Cash played in the College World Series for Florida State in 1999, and was a member of the Red Sox’ World Series title team in 2007.
