Colon experiences discomfort, told to take two days off from throwing
07:58 AM EDT on Thursday, July 10, 2008
BOSTON -- Right-hander Bartolo Colon, on the disabled list because of a strained oblique muscle, has been told to back off his throwing.
Manager Terry Francona said Colon has been experiencing discomfort in his throwing session on flat ground from 120-130 feet. So Colon took Wednesday off and will not throw Thursday, either. Hew’s expected to play catch Friday, though not from as far as 120 feet.
Francona said Colon also would play catch on Saturday and then he would be reevaluated when the team gets back together next Thursday in Anaheim after the All-Star break.
