Boston Red Sox
Youkilis back in the lineup
07:50 AM EDT on Thursday, June 26, 2008
BOSTON - Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis was back in the starting lineup last night. He was hit in the right eye when a ball thrown by third baseman Mike Lowell during between-innings warmups on Monday took a short hop and hit him in the face. Youkilis suffered a contusion but sent Sox manager Terry Francona a text message yesterday morning that said he was ready to go.
“That was good news,” said the manager. “He still looks like he got beat up.”
