Word on Crisp suspension expected soon
07:59 AM EDT on Thursday, June 26, 2008
BOSTON - Coco Crisp, who drilled three doubles last night, is expecting to hear from MLB’s discipline director Bob Watson either today, an off day for the Red Sox, or tomorrow about his appeal of a seven-game suspension he was handed for his part in igniting the June 5 brawl with the Rays.
Sean Casey served the third and final game of his suspension last night.
“Normally they serve the suspensions back to back,” said Crisp. “I assume I’ll get some kind of notification in the next couple of days, possibly [today].”
The three doubles matched a career-high for Crisp, something he had done once previously, on July 22, 2003 at Chicago while he was playing for Cleveland. Two of the doubles came off Randy Johnson.
Crisp is batting .353 (12 for 37) with seven extra-base hits in his last eight games after having had only one extra-base hit in his previous 17 plate appearances
