TORONTO -- The defensive nightmare continued for shortstop Julio Lugo.

Lugo was charged with three errors yesterday, giving him four in the series, his first four of the year. They all were ugly, careless errors that spoke of mental fatigue, lack of concentration or too much thought, or all of the above.
His first error yesterday came when he charged an easy hopper, had plenty of time to make the short throw and just plain let the ball slip out of his glove. The last two errors came on throws he bounced to first, with Kevin Youkilis unable to save him.
One error led to an unearned run. Another caused Josh Beckett to throw seven extra pitches in the fourth inning, which may have been a factor in the right-hander not being able to finish out the fifth inning.
