LOS ANGELES - Clay Buchholz, in his final spring tuneup, was cuffed around a bit in the third inning, thanks to some infield hits and an error by Coco Crisp, but maintained his composure despite the circumstances.
“It’s a learning process,” he said of the experience. “It could have been worse. I think, overall, every outing except maybe one this spring was a positive one for me. I’m still learning, and this was good to experience a difficult situation.”
Kyle Snyder chipped in with two scoreless innings. Javier Lopez didn’t help his bid to remain with the team by allowing a run in his only inning.
Crisp had an eventful day in center field.
In the third inning, he lost a routine fly ball in the sun at the last second and it fell for an error. That led to a big inning for the Dodgers, who went on to score four runs against Buchholz.
But two innings later, Crisp made a spectacular grab, tracking a ball hit by Angel Chavez to the center-field wall, where he leaped and held on despite a jarring collision with the wall.
