Okajima shines in relief
07:52 AM EDT on Tuesday, March 11, 2008
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Red Sox reliever Hideki Okajima replaced Jon Lester to start the fifth inning yesterday and looked solid during his two scoreless innings of work. He allowed one hit and struck out one. Manager Terry Francona said afterward that they are trying to stretch Okajima out, as is the case with the entire pitching staff. The manager was pleased with Okajima’s outing, saying he threw the ball very well.
