Mayor's Cup on the line today as Sox meet Twins
08:14 AM EDT on Wednesday, March 12, 2008
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Red Sox travel across town today to face the Minnesota Twins in the last of their Grapefruit League meetings, and it will be winner-take-all for the Mayor’s Cup. The chalice was sitting on a table in the Sox’ clubhouse yesterday, and the team is hoping to retain it. Manager Terry Francona enjoys talking up the annual battle, saying today is a big day for the organization.
“We’ll try to sleep tonight and then go get them,” he said jokingly.
