For Sox pitchers, easy does it
08:13 AM EST on Tuesday, February 19, 2008
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Manager Terry Francona and pitching coach John Farrell continue to monitor the early camp workouts, with position players not due for the first full-squad workout until Friday.
The emphasis is on having the pitchers progress slowly and not trying to do too much.
“They’re working on strength, getting comfortable with their deliveries and working on balance,” said Francona.
“There will be a time to compete — this isn’t it. We’re not evaluating. (We want them to) work to their allotted pitches, move on to the next field and have a good day.”
