Boston Red Sox
April 22 - Bombs Away - A Four-Pack!
07:03 AM EDT on Tuesday, October 2, 2007
The Red Sox bash four consecutive homers off poor Yankee rookie left-hander Chase Wright in the third inning, becoming only the fifth team in Major League history to achieve the feat.
Manny Ramirez begins the parade with a shot over the Monster seats on a 2-and-1 pitch. J.D. Drew continues the theme with a homer to right on a 1-and-2 pitch. Mike Lowell keeps it going with a clout to left on a 1-and-1 pitch and Jason Varitek boosts the carnage to four in a row with another shot to left, this one on a 1-and-0 pitch.
Wily Mo Pena, though, can't make it five in a row. He whiffs.
The power show trumps a 3-0 Yankee lead and puts Boston on top, 4-0. But the Red Sox need another homer, a three-run drive by Lowell in the seventh, to rally for a 7-6 win.
