The women’s studies program at the University of Rhode Island now offers an interdisciplinary graduate-level certificate program for matriculating and nonmatriculating students. The program requires nine credits of graduate work in any academic field at URI and five credits of women’s studies courses. Courses offered in the spring semester will include Radical Women in United States History (online); Feminist Theory and Methodology, and Rhetoric and Reproduction. Summer courses will include Campaigns and Services for Victims of Trafficking and Slavery. For more information, call (401) 874-4620 or e-mail wmsdir@etal.uri.edu.
Individuals who are thinking about a career in financial planning can learn more about what is involved at an information session Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. at Bryant University. Those who enroll in Bryant’s financial planning certification program, offered through the university’s Executive Development Center, may take a single course or complete a series of six courses to earn a certificate in financial planning.
The one-hour briefing session will give people the opportunity to learn about the certification and licensing process for financial planners and to better understand the program’s online and in-class options. Classes begin Jan. 15. For more information or to reserve a seat at the information session, call (401) 232-6200.
