Tiverton Four Corners is a small, artsy village surrounding the intersection of East and Main roads in south Tiverton, near the border of Little Compton, a remote area in one of Rhode Island’s most remote towns.

Four Corners is scenic and quiet, with only a cluster of shops, art galleries, and small businesses, all in carefully preserved historic buildings. Roseberry Winn Pottery & Tile and Gray’s Ice Cream are some of the best-known businesses.

The village has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974, and there is not a chain store in sight.

The Four Corners Art Center, a nonprofit founded in 1993, is housed in the historic (c. 1800) Soule-Seabury House at 3852 Main Rd., and it offers classes, exhibits and concerts.

Nonquit Pond and the Sakonnet River provide water views to many houses in the neighborhood.

Tiverton is around 25 miles from Providence; Fall River, Mass., is the nearest city, and the town also attracts Boston commuters. Tiverton’s location on a peaceful, 11-mile peninsula also attracts retirees and second-home owners.

Most of Tiverton’s priciest real estate is in Four Corners and nearby Fogland Point areas. Houses listed for sale in Four Corners in the state’s Multiple Listing Service last week ranged in price from $375,000 for an antique farmhouse, built in 1900, on 3.7 acres, with a garage and barn, all near conservation land and horse trails, up to $3,495,000 for a house built in 1984 at 561 Neck Rd. The 3,858-square-foot contemporary-style house has four bedrooms, three full baths, one half-bath, located in “a secluded waterfront setting on a charming private lane,” according to the listing information. “The property includes a private beach and bath house.”

The Four Corners Equestrian Center at 3650 Main Rd. is also on the market, listed at $889,000. The 3-acre property includes a “totally rehabbed” 1850 Colonial house “with all new systems,” including “hydro heating and cooling,” 38 horse stalls, an indoor arena, office and tack room, according to the listing information. The property is zoned “residential farm.”
