Twenty-eight years ago, Barrington architect Marc Lowenstein, an early proponent of solar heat, designed and built Eric and Sue Simonsen’s rambling house on Rumstick Point.

Contemporary ‘farmhouse’ echoes past in North Kingstowm
It sounds like an oxymoron, but there’s an architectural style called “modern farmhouse,” which combines the familiar forms of the American farmhouse with contemporary materials and interior design. If you search for modern farmhouse on Google, one of the first things that pops up is a photo of 1291 Stony Lane in North Kingstown, also known as Farmhouse One.

It just kind of said New England to us.”
