SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED: The Newport County Board of Realtors recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to two exceptional college-bound students. The scholarship awards continued the Realtors tradition, which began more than a half-a-century ago. This year’s distinguished recipients are Ashley Edes, a Middletown High School graduate, and Russell Helger, Jr., who recently completed his studies at Tiverton High School.

Ashley, who aspires to be a middle school mathematics teacher with a master’s degree, begins her college career this fall, at Rhode Island College.

Russell, who plans to be an engineer, will attend the University of Rhode Island.
